Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Police raid a drive-thru gambling operation

On Wednesday the 23rd of March, the Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Code Enforcement Division, with the help of the West Alabama Narcotics and Crime Suppression Unit raided an illegal “drive-through” gambling operation at a residence and seized betting slips, $2,367 in cash, and other evidence of illegal gambling. Two persons were arrested and charged for Promoting Gambling and held at the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $500 bond each, while a third person remains wanted and at large. Police claimed that a drive-through gambling operation involved people placing wagers by driving their cars up the driveway, going around the side of the house and pulling up in the backyard. The suspects would meet the bettors in the backyard and take their bets and money before the cars would drive out of the backyard.
