Thomasville, North Carolina – Car problems lead to a $400,000 lottery win

Marcus Savvas was experiencing more than his share of bad luck when his sister’s car broke down and he went to pick her up. Stopping for petrol at the Kangaroo Express on Randolph Street in Thomasville, Savvas purchased a cold drink and a $400,000 Bonus Cash scratch lottery ticket for $5. After checking the ticket multiple times, Savvas realized that he had won the top prize of $400,000 and drove to the lottery headquarters in Raleigh to claim his prize. Savvas will be receiving $276,067 in cash after state and federal tax withholdings.
