Singapore – Police arrest 15 men and 13 women for illegal gambling

Following a two day police operation that took place on the 23rd and 24th of November, Singapore Police Force arrested 28 people for their involvement in illegal gambling activities. The 15 men and 13 women, aged between 37 and 78 years of age, were arrested for offences related to illegal gambling including illegal bookmaking and punting under the Betting Act. Police also seized a Mahjong table, a Mahjong set and $12,781 in cash. Under the Common Gaming Houses Act, any person gaming in public shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5000 or to an imprisonment a term not exceeding 6 months or both.
