Sheldon Adelson buys the Las Vegas Review-Journal

Sheldon Adelson, 82, is the new owner of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The largest circulation newspaper in Nevada was purchased last week for a whopping $140 million. Adelson is also the chairman and chief executive of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. His company owns a number of casinos and resorts in the United States, including the Venetian and the Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, and the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem in Pennsylvania. He is listed in Forbes as the 15th richest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of over $23 billion. Adelson is also a major contributor to Republican candidates, having donated many millions of dollars over the years.
