Sharkey’s casino is evacuated after a natural gas report

Sharkey’s Casino, which is located on 1440 U.S. Hwy 395 N, Gardnerville, Nevada 89410 was evacuated shortly before 7:30AM on Tuesday the 29th of September 2015 after someone reported smelling natural gas. A crew from the fire department quickly arrived and investigated the smell. They did not find any evidence of a gas leakage, and after some time the smell dissipated. Everyone was then allowed to go back inside the building. Shortly afterwards, another person reported smelling natural gas near a Walmart store about one 1.5 miles south of the casino. Fire fighters were dispatched to the address, and discovered that a construction crew had hit a pocket of natural gas which had formed a bubble and traveled north wind up the highway leading to Sharkey’s casino. This is what had caused the smell and evacuation at Sharkey’s casino in the early hours of the morning.
