Santa Fe County, New Mexico – A father is arrested after leaving young children in car while he gambled

After noticing three young children sitting alone in a car, shortly before 10pm on Thursday the 1st of June, Camel Rock Casino security staff contacted the police department. When the deputies arrived on the scene, they confronted the children’s father, Andrew Martinez, 34, about leaving the children unattended in the car. Martinez initially explained that he had left the children alone for 15 minutes while he went to get refreshments. He later admitted to gambling inside the casino. Martinez was arrested and charged with three counts of child abuse/abandonment. The children went home to their mother.
