Sacramento, California – An innocent bystander is fatally shot outside Capitol Casino

Shortly after 1:30 a.m on Sunday the 6th of November, a fight broke out between two groups of men in the parking lot of Capitol Casino. An off-duty Sacramento police officer who was working as a security guard approached the men and told them to stop fighting. As the police officer walked away, one of the men started firing in the direction of the officer. The police officer took shelter behind a car and returned fire. During the shootout, an innocent bystander, Nicholas Broadway, was fatally shot several times and died a short time after at an area hospital. The suspect who shot Broadway is currently on the run and police are seeking the public’s help to identify him. The police officer is a 20 year veteran of the department and has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the shooting.
