It happened on Tuesday the 3rd of January at Hotel Conrad in Punta del Este, Uruguay. That’s where businessman Pedro Grendene Bartelle decided to go for it and wager $35,000 on a single number on the roulette wheel. Placing $35K worth of casino chips on number 32, Bartelle watched the roulette wheel spin as he sipped on a glass of wine while surrounded by friends, players and curious bystanders. It didn’t take long for the ball to land on the number 32, adding an extra $3.5 million to Bartelle’s fortune. Huddling in a circle, Bartelle and his friends jumped and danced, celebrating the massive win. Bartelle is currently the president of Vulcabras-Azaleia, a large Brazilian footwear company. Bartelle’s uncle is Alexandre Grendene Bartelle, a Brazilian businessman and billionaire who co-founded Grendene, the world’s largest manufacturer of sandals.
