Parents leave 7 year old son in car for 19 hours while they gamble

Parents Sheng Ping Xie, 45, and Lin Hua Qiu, 38 of Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child after leaving their 7 year old son in a car on the fourth floor of the Rivers casino garage while they gambled. The incident took place on the 4th of July, during which time the child was left alone in the car for up to 19 hours without food or water. There was also a smell of urine in the vehicle. The boy was playing on a cellphone but did not know how to contact his parents. The parents had apparently told him that they were going to get him ice cream before disappearing inside the Rivers casino to gamble. The parents were arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail. They have since been released. “At no time during their transport or incarceration did Qiu or Xie ask about the welfare of (the child),” police said in the complaint. Rivers casino has permanently banned both Xie and Qiu from the casino.
