Palm Springs, California – 13 people are killed after a casino tour bus slams into a truck
The USA Holiday bus was returning from a trip to Red Earth casino and heading back to Los Angeles on Sunday the 23rd of October when it plowed into the back of a semi-trailer near Palm Springs, killing 13 people (including the driver) and injuring 31 others. The accident took place at approximately 5:17 a.m. PDT. during a time when most of the passengers were sleeping. Speed is believed to be one of the major factors that contributed to the fatal crash. “The speed of bus was so significant that the trailer itself entered about 15 feet into the bus. You can see it was a substantial impact.” said California Highway Patrol Border Division Chief Jim Abele. It is not yet known if alcohol, drugs or fatigue were contributing factors in the crash.
