Oakland, California – 20 people arrested, and weapons and drugs are found in an illegal casino and prostitution parlor

On Wednesday the 11th of January at approximately 4.00 am, sheriff’s deputies, including members of the SWAT team raided a large building in the 6600 block of Bancroft Avenue. The building, which had been red-tagged as unsafe to enter, had dangerous wiring that bypassed the electric meter, and raw sewage running through it. Inside the building, officers found weapons, drugs (mainly methamphetamine), and gambling equipment. According to authorities, the evidence suggested that the building was used as a makeshift casino and prostitution parlor. Police arrested 20 of the 28 people they found in the building for various misdemeanors including drug possession and probation violations. Authorities also found a 5-year-old child, and placed the child into protective custody.
