About Motor Sports

Motor sports cover a broad range of different sports. From motorbikes, to motor cars, stock cars, NASCAR, and Formula One, there is much for you to choose from. Generally, motor racing enthusiasts have one particular sport they favour over the others, and the biggest ones to bet on are typically Formula One and NASCAR, depending on which side of the Atlantic you are sitting on.

The general rules regarding motor racing are fairly simple. There is often a qualification period, which determines which order cars sit on the grid. Later on, the cars fly off the grid, and race over a predetermined number of laps to a finish line. The cars are scored according to the order in which they crossed the line. What could be simpler, right? You might think that, anyway. However, a number of things – such as pit stops, engine failures, poor driving, and of course, crashes (some of which can be fatal) often play their part in altering the outcome of a motorsports race.

Betting on Motor Sports

The most predictable type of bet in motorsports is the Straight Bet. This involves betting on the winner of the race outright. Other types of bets include betting on the drivers (or riders) which will finish on the podium, whilst you can also bet on who will sit in Pole Position (first place) after qualifying is over.

That being said, you can also bet on the outcome of a season, rather than just a race. In most motorsports, there are usually two types of competitions going on at the same time. The first of these is the Drivers or Riders Championship. The second is the Constructors Championship. The latter is a competition amongst the teams and not the drivers, though a team’s points are made up of those earned by the driver. You can bet on who will end up the Drivers/Riders Champion, as well as the Constructors Champion over the course of a season.

Other – more one-off – races such as Le Mans are trickier to bet on, but there are still a host of bets you can wager on with those events, too.

Betting tips and strategies

Luck – or a lack of it – are hugely important in motorsports. Even if you were just relying on driver errors or team mistakes (such as those made by the pit crew), there would be a huge chance of something going wrong. Throw in the fact that your driver or rider is sitting in or on a vehicle, and the chance for something to go wrong is magnified. Motor racing vehicles are hugely impressive machines, but they are still machines and they can still break. That can affect your race,

Qualifying position, crashes, weather (some drivers and riders prefer and perform better in wet conditions over dry ones), penalties, unreliable engineering can all affect the outcome of the race. Some of those will be out of your control, but other elements (such as the weather, qualifying positions) can be looked up and researched prior to the start of any motor racing event.
