Missoula, Montana – Deano’s Casino is robbed at gun point and a family is taken hostage

At approximately 3.30 a.m. on Friday the 27th of May, two armed suspects robbed Deano’s Casino and took car keys from a person inside the casino during the robbery. A family from Washington who had been getting gas at the travel plaza had seen the robbery and called 911. Officers told the family to pull up near the interchange and to wait for police to arrive. Thinking that the robbers had long gone, the family pulled over and were waiting for the police to arrive, when the two robbers suddenly pulled over near them, exited the first stolen car and jumped into the car of the family that was waiting for the police. During the car chase, officers managed to talk to the suspects by calling the family’s cell phones. The suspects eventually agreed to release the 12 year old boy, a 14 year old girl and a grandmother. However, they refused to release the parents. Firing shots at the pursuing police cars, the suspects finally escaped into the night. At around 5:20 a.m, the parents and their vehicle were found near Evaro Hill on U.S. Highway 93. The suspects had fled on foot and are the subject of a police hunt. The two male suspects are believed to be between 19 and 25 years of age. One suspect is possibly Hispanic, while the other suspect is African-American. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about their identities or location is asked to contact 9-1-1 or Crimestoppers at 728-4444.
