Manila, Philippines – A gunman storms into the Resorts World Manila, fires shots and torches gambling tables

At approximately 1.00 AM on Friday the 2nd of June, a man entered the crowded Resorts World Manila, fired shots and used gasoline to set gambling tables on fire. The gunman then stole $2 million worth of casino chips before fleeing to an adjacent hotel, where he later committed suicide. Thirty six people died of suffocation as a result of the smoke from the fire. Thirteen of the people killed were resort staff, while the rest were resort guests. Police do not believe that it was a terror attack. “Either he lost in the casino and wanted to recoup his losses or he went totally nuts,” said Metropolitan Manila police chief Oscar Albayalde.

Resorts World Manila is located at 1 Newport Blvd, Newport City, Pasay, 1309 Metro Manila, Philippines.
