Las Vegas, Nevada – Gunman kills 58 and injures 527 near the Mandalay Bay Resort

Shortly after 10.00 pm on Sunday the 1st of October, gunman Stephen Craig Paddock, 64, from Mesquite, Nevada opened fire from his room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. His target were thousands of people attending Route 91 Festival, an outdoor country music concert across the street from the hotel. By the time police zeroed in on the room in which Paddock was located, Paddock had already fired hundreds of rounds into concert goers, killing 58 and injuring at least 527. When the SWAT team entered the room in which Paddock was located, they found him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot. They also found 23 guns in his room and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. Two of the rifles were fitted with scopes and positioned in front of two windows in the hotel room. The Las Vegas Strip is now the place of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. #PrayForVegas
