Las Vegas, Nevada – Elvis Presley Estate sues Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino

Elvis Presley Estate has filed a lawsuit against Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino for holding onto Elvis Presley artifacts that were once part of an exhibition at the casino. Some of the artifacts include high school yearbooks, letters, Elvis Presley’s first gold album, a 1957 Harley Davidson motorcycle, a 1962 Lincoln Continental, a 1971 Stutz Blackhawk, jewelry and stage outfits. The trouble started when Exhibit A Circle, a third party operator quit the exhibition after a dispute with Westgate. After shutting down the exhibition, Westgate is accused of taking the artifacts hostage to gain leverage in its dispute with Exhibit A Circle. Elvis Presley Enterprises also claims that Westgate “forcibly removed all employees, who were charged with protecting the artifacts, from the Westgate and seized EPE’s property.” The casino is also accused of cutting off access to a security camera that monitors the artifacts. Elvis Presley Enterprises is asking the court to order the items be returned, and is also seeking punitive damages.
