Lancashire, London – 13 year old boy gambles away £80,000 of his parents’ money

The teenage boy was first drawn to gambling after seeing advertisements by online bookmakers at Wembley. Using his father’s business credit cards, the boy opened online gambling accounts and placed hundreds of bets on football matches and horse races.

“It was just far too easy. I just had to put in dad’s name, address, date of birth and card details, and checked a box saying I was 18. It took literally seconds to register and start gambling,” the teenager said.

Six months later, the bank contacted the father to discuss the questionable transactions. That is when the parents learned of their son’s gambling addiction. The boy apologized and was sent to psychotherapy. However, a few months later, the boy relapsed and gambled away even more money.

The parents have decided to share their story with the public to make other parents aware of the dangers of online gambling addiction.
