Islandia, New York – Teenage babysitter abandons infant at a casino

Suffolk County police arrested a 14-year-old babysitter, her 16-year-old boyfriend, and the babysitter’s 44-year old mother on Tuesday the 29th of August, after the trio abandoned a 9-month-old infant at a casino due to a dispute with the baby’s mother regarding payment and pick-up time. The 14-year-old babysitter was hired through a babysitting website on which she claimed to be 18 years old.

“The 44-year-old mother, the 14-year-old babysitter, and 16-year-old boyfriend were all arrested for endangering the welfare of a child,” Chief Cameron said. “The 21-year-old mother of the 9-month-old child was referred to child protective services for an investigation.” said Chief Stuart Cameron.
