Illegal gambling crackdown in Thomasville, North Carolina

Authorities, involving the Thomasville Police Department, North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations have all worked together to bust illegal gambling operations that were taking place in Thomasville, North Carolina. At approximately 1:30 PM on Friday the 29th of May, law enforcement officials executed seven search warrants at the following Thomasville locations:

  • Shah’s Games, 504 National Highway
  • Pantry Shop 5, 500 National Highway
  • Pot O’ Gold, 220 Cedar Lodge Road, Suite C and D
  • Lucky Streak Sweepstakes, 1050 National Highway
  • Lady Luck, 1008 National Highway
  • Jackpot 777 Sweepstakes, 1028 Randolph St.
  • Julian Internet Café, 504 Julian Ave.

As a result, police confiscated 115 illegal slot machines, gambling paraphernalia, glass pipes and $44,119 in cash. A number of people were charged with offenses including; operating and possessing illegal slot machines, possessing gambling tables, gambling, selling alcoholic beverages without an ABC permit and more.

Mike Yates, Special Agent over ALE’s Greensboro district office stated, “The arrests in Thomasville should serve notice to other illegal gambling operations these types of operations will not be tolerated.”
