Gaston County, North Carolina – Authorities seize more than 100 gambling machines and arrest 28 people in Operation Pot of Gold

After several months of investigating an illegal gambling operation, authorities raided 48 locations in Gaston County, North Carolina and seized well over 100 illegal gambling machines in Operation “Pot of Gold”. The raid was conducted on Thursday the 17th of March by Gaston County police, with the assistance of officers from the Gastonia, Cherryville, Mount Holly, Belmont and Bessemer City police departments and North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement. Twenty eight people were arrested and charged for violation of NC General Statute 14-306 which pertains to the possession of illegal gambling machines, and is a misdemeanor offense. Additional charges might also be added.
