Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between legal online gambling, and illegal online gambling?

Legal online casinos are licensed to operate in a certain jurisdiction, while illegal online casinos are not licensed to operate in that same jurisdiction. This does not necessarily mean that a licensed online casino is reputable, or that an unlicensed online casino is rogue. What it basically means is that a legal online casino is a licensed, tax paying business, while an illegal online casino is an unlicensed business that does not pay tax in the jurisdiction(s) in which it is operating.

Why do some people like to gamble?

There are many different reasons as to why some people like to gamble. Some people turn to gambling as a means to make some fast money. Others turn to gambling in order to wind down after a stressful day, and relax while enjoying a few drinks. Feelings of loneliness, and the need to socialize can also be motivating factors behind a person’s visit to a casino. Others may gamble as a way of briefly escaping from the harsh realities of life, or simply because they are “feeling lucky” for one reason or another, while others may view gambling as a form of entertaining, recreational activity.

What are the world’s top gambling destinations?

The world’s number one gambling destination needs no introduction. It is of course Las Vegas, USA, which is also known as “Sin City”. The other top gambling destinations of the world include “Aruba, Caribbean”, “Atlantic City, USA”, “Monte Carlo, Monaco”, “Macau, China”, “Puerto Rico, Caribbean”, “Curacao, Caribbean”, “Reno, USA”, “Bahamas, Caribbean”, “Biloxi, USA”, “Paris, France” and “London, England”.

What is the difference between downloadable casino games and instant play casino games?

Most online casinos offer downloadable casino games which require the player to download and install the casino software onto one’s computer before playing the games. Instant play casino games on the other hand can be played instantly in the browser, without the need to download or install any casino software. However, there are usually many more casino games available in the downloadable version, than in the instant play version.

How do slot tournaments work?

A date and a time is set for a slots tournament. The players show up for the event. Sometimes an entry fee is required to participate in the tournament, and sometimes there is no entry fee. The prize pool is pre-determined. It can be anywhere from a few dollars to many thousands of dollars. When the slot tournament begins, players start playing at the slot machines until the slot tournament ends. The player who has accumulated the most number of credits during the tournament wins the prize pool. Of course, players can hit some nice jackpots and win additional money while competing in the slots tournament.

How does the number of decks in Blackjack affect the player’s chances of winning?

When a single deck of 52 playing cards is used in a game of Blackjack, the house advantage is 0.17%. However, the house advantage will increase when the number of decks are increased. When 2 decks are used, the house advantage increases to 0.46%. When 4 decks are used, the house advantage becomes 0.60%. When 6 decks are used, the house advantage is 0.64%. When 8 decks are used, the house advantage climbs to 0.65%. The increase in the house advantage as the number of decks increase may be explained in the following way. Whether you are playing with 1 or 8 decks of cards, you have the same chance of receiving an Ace card as your first card because there are 4 Ace cards in 1 deck (52 cards). There are also 32 Ace cards in 8 decks (416 cards). 4/52 is the same as 32/416. However, the house advantage increases as the number of decks increase when the second card is dealt because (assuming that your first card isn’t an Ace card), now you have 4 chances of getting an Ace card as your second card from a total of 51 cards when a single deck is used, as opposed to 32 chances of getting an Ace card as your second card from a total of 415 cards when 8 decks are used. Assuming that the player doesn’t get a Blackjack and requests a 3rd card, the house advantage will again be greater when 8 decks of cards are used as opposed to one deck because a 4/50 probability is greater than 32/414.

What is the difference between American, European and French Roulette?

American Roulette has 36 numbers and 2 zero pockets. A single zero, and a double zero. This means that the player has one chance in 38 of selecting the winning number. The house edge for a game of American Roulette is 5.26%. European Roulette on the other hand has 36 numbers and 1 zero. This means that the player has a 1 in 37 chance of selecting the winning number. The house edge for a game of European Roulette is 2.7%. However, French Roulette, which has 36 numbers and a single zero, has a tiny house edge of 1.35%. It is the most popular Roulette game thanks to the En Prison rule and the La Partage rule.

Which forms of payment do online casinos accept?

Different online casinos accept different forms of payment. However, the form of payment that a player may use depends on the particular payment system and the terms and conditions governing it. What are live dealer casinos?

Live dealer online casinos are about as close to real casino action as an online casino can get. The player registers an account at an online casino that offers live dealer games. The player then logs into the casino account, deposits funds and selects to play one of the live casino games that are being offered. Most live dealer casinos offer three types of live dealer games. These include, Live Baccarat, Live Blackjack and Live Roulette. The player selects a game to play, for example, Roulette and places a wager. The live dealer (who is visible to the player via a webcam connection) will physically spin a real Roulette wheel (not a computer simulation) and call out the winning number after the ball lands on it. The player may talk to the dealer via webcam during the game, just like a player may chat to the dealer at a land based casino.

Are casino and/or gambling winnings taxable?

The answer to this question depends on which country you referring to, and the type of gambling activity in question. The tax laws governing winnings from a casino may differ from the tax laws that govern winnings from lottery. While the majority of countries do not tax gambling winnings, some countries count gambling winnings as taxable income. In the United States, gambling winnings are taxable. However, the good news is that losses from “gambling transactions” are also taken into account when calculating the amount of tax payable from one’s gambling winnings. In other countries such as Canada, Australia and New Zealand, gambling winnings are only taxed for professional players, but not for recreational players. Gambling winnings are not taxed in the UK, Germany, Ireland, Portugal and Slovenia. Please do not take this information for granted as tax laws do tend to change on a fairly regular basis. Please consult a tax agent or an accountant in your own jurisdiction to understand the current tax laws governing gambling winnings in your country.

How many lines should I play in video slots?

To increase your chances of winning, you should play the maximum number of lines available. Playing the maximum number of lines will cover the maximum number of winning combinations, and as a result, will increase your hit frequency. If you are concerned about going through your bankroll too quickly, then lower your wager as much as possible, while covering as many lines and combinations as you can. If you only bet on 1 line out of 40 possible lines, then you will most likely have to wait much longer to hit a winning combination on that 1 line, even though the odds may be the same.

For example

(1) -300 means that for every $300 wagered, I will win $100

(2) +200 means that for every $100 wagered, I will win $200

Every slot machine has a payout percentage (which usually falls between 82% and 98%). It is set at the factory where the slot machine is made. The “theoretical payout percentage” or the RTP, “return to player” as it is sometimes called, is the percentage of the money that the slot machine will give back to the players over a long period of time. For example, a 96% payout means that the slot machine will return $96 out of every $100 deposited into it back to the players. This does not occur immediately, but over many spins, which could range anywhere from 1,000 to 1,000,000 spins.

What is a poker face?

A poker face is a face that shows no emotion. By keeping a poker face during a game of poker, the player doesn’t give any of the other players any hints or clues as to how good or bad his poker hand is. If the player has an excellent hand, such as a Royal Flush for example, and he smiles to show that he has a good hand, then other players might fold. When a poker player hides his emotions, other players will not be able to tell if he is bluffing or not.
