Detroit, Michigan – Police arrest a gang that targeted high rollers leaving Detroit casinos

Police have arrested three suspects over a string of carjacking incidents that took place between 22 and 29 September in 2017 around the MGM Grand and Motor City casinos in Detroit. The plan was simple enough. The suspects would follow particular gamblers out of a casino, and tail them in stolen vehicles. Once on the freeway, the suspects would crash the stolen vehicle into the victim’s vehicle. When the victim pulled over to assess the damage and talk to the suspects, the suspects would produce a pistol and steal the victim’s money and car. The suspects have since been booked on a number of charges including; carjacking a motor vehicle, use of a firearm during and in relation to a violent crime, possession of device-making equipment, aggravated identity theft and possession of 15 or more counterfeit unauthorized access devices. This news story highlights the need to always remain vigilant especially when leaving a casino with cash.
