Detroit, Michigan – Fake security guard steals more that $500,000 from a Loomis Armored vehicle outside the Greektown Casino

It sounds like a scene from the movie “Groundhog Day” where Phil who is played by “Bill Murray” walks up to an armored vehicle, takes a bag of money and walks away. It happened in a similar fashion at approximately 8.00 AM on Friday the 27th of November, outside the Greektown Casino in Detroit, Michigan. A Loomis Armored vehicle was parked on Beaubien when a man who was dressed as a security guard asked the driver to open the vehicle so that he could take the cash out. The driver opened the vehicle, after which the suspect took bags of money and simply walked away. No one was threatened with a gun. No one was hurt. There wasn’t even a get away car. The suspect simply walked up to the money bags, took a few and walked away. Detroit police and the FBI are now investigating the $500,000 robbery.
