Detroit, Michigan – Authorities bust a cockfighting, gambling ring

Personnel from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) along with the assistance of officers from the U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Trenton and Detroit police departments raided an abandoned building on the 1200 block of Green, near Interstate 75 and Springwells at approximately 1 pm on Saturday the 18th of March. The building was suspected to be a venue for a cockfighting and illegal gambling operation. During the raid which involved 140 officers, 50 of the 86 people inside the building were arrested for violation of immigration law and face deportation hearings. Furthermore, more than 100 roosters were seized and turned over to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and humanely euthanized.
