Detroit casino workers vote to go on strike

Casino workers from MotorCity casino, Greektown casino and MGM Grand casino have voted in favor of going on strike if the casinos do not meet their wage, health care and benefit demands. The Casino Strike Authorization Vote was 98.83% meaning that 1,361 members of the Detroit Casino Council voted in favor of the strike, while only 16 people voted against the strike. The 1,361 union employees are represented by the UAW Local 7777, Unite Here Local 24 and two other unions. However, this does not mean that the casino workers will definitely be going on strike anytime soon, but that they may go on strike if there is a breakdown in negotiations with the casinos, and their demands are not met.
