Bethlehem, Pennsylvania – The Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem is fined $150,000

Despite increasing the number of security officers and utilizing the most advanced “ID reading” technology to detect underage gamblers, a number of underage persons managed to slip through the cracks, costing the casino a total of $150,000 worth of fines from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board between September 25 and March 1.

“Anytime a minor is on the casino floor, we take it very seriously. We’ve had a couple where underage folks were aided by a family member,” said Sands Vice President and General Counsel Michael Magazzu. “Even with the best technology, it’s very difficult to prevent those types of entrees.”

According to Casino President Mark Juliano, approximately 25,000 people enter the casino every day, while approximately 300 people are refused entry for being underage.
