Atlantic City, New Jersey- The former $1.2 billion Trump Taj Mahal casino is sold for $50 million

Built in 1990 at the cost of $1.2 billion, the former Trump Taj Mahal casino was dubbed “the eighth wonder of the world” by Donald Trump when it opened its doors. However, after losing millions of dollars over the years, the casino was finally sold for a fraction of its initial cost, at a mere $50 million in March 2017 to Hard Rock International, which is owned by Florida’s Seminole Indian tribe. The new owners plan on re-opening the casino in 2018 after removing all mentions of Trump, and completing a $375 million renovation that will include the world’s largest collection of music memorabilia.
