A woman steals more than $70,000 through a Foxwoods Resort Casino patron’s gift rewards card

Linda Yang, a 64 year old woman from Astoria, Queens is facing a single charge of first degree larceny after she was caught using another casino patron’s gift rewards card to buy Exxon Mobil gift cards and Home Depot gift cards which she then sold at marked down prices. The Foxwoods Resort Casino gift rewards card that she was using in fact belonged to a 74 year old casino patron who reported the card as missing on the 13th of May 2015. That is when the casino cancelled the card, however, not before Yang had purchased $71,700 in gift cards. Many of the gift cards were sold to other casino patrons for 80 cents on the dollar, however, all the gift cards that were purchased through the stolen gift rewards card were also cancelled which sparked complaints from the persons who purchased them. Yang is currently free on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to re-appear in court on the 29th of January 2016.
