A high roller is charged with money laundering

Robert Thomas Rust (35), a high roller at the Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino, was recently arrested and charged with one count of 2nd degree felony money laundering, one count of 3rd degree felony distribution of a controlled substance and two counts of 3rd degree felony tax evasion. According to Rust’s tax returns for 2011, Rust worked in a restaurant, earning approximately $18,700 annually, while his wife, Susana Rust (41), worked for a commercial cleaning company, and earned approximately $8,000 a year. However, Rust used the slot machines at Wendover Nugget Hotel and Casino to launder $384,569 which investigators claim to have come from the sale of methamphetamine from their home between January 2011 and May 2012. Susana has been charged as a co-defendant, but has not been arrested. A warrant for her arrest is outstanding.
